Treatment
The
GIGER MD Therapy is nowadays certainly one of the most
effective method in treating Parkinson's disease or other disease as
well as lesions affecting the Central Nervous System (CNS). This
method is rehabilitating the CNS, unlike many other methods which
affect only the periphery. Moreover the mobility of people with
Parkinson's disease can be improved at the same time through the
GIGER MD medical device with greatest success.
The therapy on the
GIGER MDinstrument is a singular method of physio and
neuro therapy, whose unequaled effectiveness cannot be compared with
conventional therapy procedures at all.

Like some other CNS degenerative disorders, Parkinson's disease
begins insidiously. Persons close to the patient may notice the
problem before the patient does. The patient's facial expression may
appear "depressed" or "apathetic," and the voice may become softer
in volume and monotonous in tone. The patient may complain of
muscular "weakness" or "stiffness." Involuntary movements, such as
tremor or the turning in of a foot (dystonia), may become a problem.
The symptoms may be noticed during routine activities, or they may
be present only at certain times, such as when the patient is
walking or writing.
In
the initial stages of Parkinson's disease, many patients do not have
movement problems. Instead, they may complain of anxiety and
difficulty sleeping. However, signs of motor system dysfunction
become apparent on neurologic and physical examination.
The first step in
evaluating a patient with problems suggestive of Parkinson's disease
is to determine which components of motor control are affected. That
means the GIGER MD Therapy is tailored to the persons particular
condition (GIGER MD medical device, GIGER MD Booster Impulse, GIGER MD light).
The
GIGER MD medical device represents the basic instrument.
In the case of progressive improvement of the motor abilities of the
patient the GIGER MD Booster Impulses should be used
additionally, in order to therapy still more purposefully at the
course sample which can be reached. With the GIGER MD
instruments particularly equilibrium, space feeling, eye hand
co-ordination, tuning of individual parts of the body to each other,
muscles (sports club retaining muscles), harmonious and coordinated
movements as well as their speed and the sensomotor are trained. The
effect of this GIGER MD Therapy is because of an
approximation to the original physiological movement sample as well
as a normalization of the vegetative like also the higher mental
functions. With the program recording can be judged objectively,
with which gravity the illness is afflicted and in what respect
treatment progress of a patient was obtained.

In
Parkinson's disease, tremor typically occurs at rest but may also be
present when the arms are raised (postural tremor). Tremor is not a
pathognomonic sign because it can also occur with other movement
disorders. Conversely, not all patients with Parkinson's disease
manifest tremor, so the absence of tremor does not rule out the
diagnosis.
The goals of treatment
are to alleviate symptoms that interfere with the patient's
activities of daily living and to prevent or limit complications as
Parkinson's disease progresses and to prevent or slow the
progression of the disease. Because of the GIGER MD
Therapy this goal is not any longer a theoretic goal. If secondary
parkinsonism is suspected, treatment should be directed at the
identified underlying cause. Treatment for idiopathic Parkinson's
disease should be initiated as soon as the patient's symptoms begin
to interfere with routine activities.

Slowness of gait, poor postural reflexes, involuntary movements and
orthostatic hypotension contribute to the falls frequently
experienced by patients with Parkinson's disease, especially later
in the course of the disorder. Measures to reduce the risk of falls
include an intensive therapy on the GIGER MD
Instruments.
With an intensive therapy on the revolutionary GIGER MD
Instruments you will achieve the greatest succes concerning the
symptoms of Parkinsons as shaking, muscle stiffness and slowness of
movement.
When recommending a
course of treatment, the physician determines how much the symptoms
disrupt the patient's life and then tailors therapy to the person's
particular condition.
Over time, however,
the side effects of many of the administered medications can be
nearly as distressing as the disease itself, and the drugs may
eventually lose their effectiveness. Applicating the GIGER MD
Therapy intensively as well as extensively, the quantity of
medication can be reduced or even completely abandoned.

To all GIGER MD
Therapy Instruments is the same principle inherent:
Basis for the GIGER MD
Therapy
As explained before,
the GIGER MD Therapy is used to treat patients with CNS
lesions.
Due to the 4 new
developments in human neurophysiology mentioned below, it is
possible to reorganize the lesioned or functionally impaired human
central nervous system (CNS). The 4 new repair-related concepts are:

-
The CNS is viewed
as a neuronal network which organizes itself. The organization
can be changed by re-learning.
-
The
self-organization is based on a relative (specifically changing)
phase- and frequency coordination of rhythmically firing sub
neuronal networks and single neurons.
-
Neurogenesis and
functional cell proliferation is induced and controlled by
learning. Methods for re-learning basic CNS functions use
especially rhythmic, dynamic, coordinated movements (GIGER MD
Instruments).
-
It seems from the
success in re-learning movements, vegetative and higher mental
functions in patients with CNS lesion that the human CNS has a
second integrative strategy to learn, re-learn, store and recall
network states.

Theory of coordination
dynamics of the lesioned human CNS and re-learning
The lesioned human CNS
can be repaired by re-learning of partially lost phase and frequency
coordination through coordinated rhythmic movements. The severely
lesioned CNS can only efficiently be repaired if integrative,
coordinated functions are re-learned. The re-learning of relative
phase and frequency coordination of the lesioned CNS can be achieved
by:
-
Using the special
coordination dynamic therapy device GIGER MD
which offer exact phase and frequency coordination up to a few
milliseconds for re-learning.
-
The training of
automatisms, postures and old learned movements which are only
little impaired in their functioning by the lesion.
Rather than asking
what is the best method to re-organize the lesioned CNS we should
ask what method is most efficient in re-organizing the lesioned CNS
by re-learning. The increase of the rate of re-learning is
determined by 4 factors:
-
The exactness of
the coordination of the performed movements during the therapy,
to functionally reconnect disconnected network parts to recouple
arms or legs that cannot be moved.
-
The increase of
the intergrativity of the coordination dynamic therapy, which
increases the number and complexity of simultaneously exercised
phase and frequency coordinations and makes it possible to
re-learn integrative functions such as the higher mental
functions.
-
The enhancement of
the movement induced re-afferent input to strengthen the
physiologic self-organization of the lesioned CNS and its
communication with the environment.
-
The increase of
the intensity of the therapy to force the adaptive machine CNS
to adapt.
Because of measured
phase and frequency coordination in the process of neuronal network
organization in man, the theory of coordination dynamics is used for
re-learning motor, vegetative, and higher mental functions. The
re-learning (repair) is seen as a change of the existing inner
coordination dynamics tendencies after the lesion (with no or only
pathologic functioning of arms, legs and trunk) to achieve CNS
coordination dynamics which will generate again physiologic
movements, vegetative and higher mental functions.

The change of the
coordination dynamics is achieved by the GIGER MD
Therapy, especially by the GIGER MD medical device.
The improvement of the
coordinated movement of an arm, finger or leg can be measured. The
improvement of the average coordination dynamics when exercising on
a GIGER MD Instrument can be used to quantify the
improvement of the inner coordination tendencies on the macroscopic
level.
The GIGER MD
Booster Impulse makes possible for the first time for the
wheelchair-bounded patient to train standing the cardiovascular
system, to improve substantially the blood circulation, to
strengthen and develop muscles as well as to prevent pressure ulcers
and articular stiffness.

For the reconciliation
of still insufficient equilibrium reactions and to carry a part of
the body weight, the patients can be secured in a modified parachute
harness. This method permits to practice the still
wheelchair-dependent patient to repeat complex gait patterns under
optimal conditions.
Owing to the
intensively as well as extensively accomplished GIGER MD
Therapy every patients suffering Parkinsons disease can learn to
walk again or at least improve crucially the walking ability.
GIGER MD has over 20 years of
experience in research and development of new rehab and therapy
programs worldwide!
